Perlubie beach is on the amazing Eyre Peninsula in South Australia. This is the last peninsula of the three that is the closest to the Nullabor.
Perlubie Beach is a donation campsite that attracts hundreds of campers and holiday makers every year so you gotta get in quick to snag a good spot. It has a really family friendly vibe where we met so many other travelling families.
It is famous for its amazing clear shallow waters and tropical huts that you can park your Caravan or tent near and feel like your in paradise.
We were lucky enough to get a camp spot here right on the beachfront early last year so we spent 1 week enjoying swimming, fishing and exploring the beach every day.
A great memory of Perlubie was when we found a treasure map in a bottle that lead us to an island not far that was only separated by the tide. So at low tide we could see the sand bar and make our way across to the island to find the treasure, however this was not as easy as its sounds.
Perlubie beach is also known for its Razor Fish, and when i say Razor i mean Razor. The Razorfish is a type of shellfish that resembles a scallop inside an over large mussel looking shell. The shape of this large shell sits just under the sand with its sharp end pointing directly up. So this meant we needed to be very careful when walking on the sandbar. We were prepared as we wore our sand shoes that protected our feet from accidentally getting cut if we stepped on one. One afternoon we crossed the sandbar to the island and we used the map to find the treasure, which was a picture of the people who hid it and a piece of paper that you write your name on to mark that you have been there. We saw so many other names and it was definitely an adventure.
I was so excited to find out recently that we had bought land in Perlubie, so soon i will get to call this place home. Bring on more Island adventures.
